Technical Drawings and Paperwork

Below you will find samples of the paperwork I typically produce during a design process. These are scanned images so they may not be as clear as you would like, if you would like to see cleaner copies of my paperwork please contact me.

Sound Cue Sheet: My Sound Cue Sheet is a visual organization of the sound design and is used to help communicate about the design with the director, stage manager, and the other designers. It lists the cue number for each cue, the page on which the cue occurs, the cue line for calling the cue, a description of the sound, includes a section for additional descriptions/notes about the cue, an approximate length for the cue, speaker assignments for the cue, and which playback deck the cue will be triggered from. Depending on the production I may include music numbers (as I have done in this sample because I was working with a composer who was writing original music for this piece and we needed to track both my cue numbers and her music numbers),or if I am working on a Shakespeare or other such work I will often include scene and line numbers in addition to the standard page number.

Sound System Plot: My Sound System Plot functions in the same manner as a lighting plot. On the Sound System Plot I indicate where in the theatre components of the sound system should be placed.

Sound System Elevation: My Sound System Elevation functions in the same manner as any other elevation drawing. On the Sound System Elevation I indicate the height within the theatre that components of the sound system should be placed.

Sound System Block Diagram: My Sound System Block Diagram illustrates how the sound system should be put together. I often will include an equipment list with my Sound System Block Diagram for ease in pulling the gear that will be required to assemble the sound system.

The paperwork I generate for every production depends upon the needs of that production, for example if I was designing a musical mic tracking sheets and an orchestra pit plot would be created. The samples above represent my general paperwork. The drawings are with AutoCAD.
